Autobiography

From a young age I always knew I wanted to help people. Ayurveda has given me a means to heal my community, something which I will forever be grateful for! These Ayurvedic teachings have provided me the parameters to interact with the world around me in an entirely new way. I am more cognizant of my body and how I interact with the elements around me. Each patient is like a puzzle, entirely unique. As the collective picture begins to come into focus. These interactions with my patients captivate my interest and allow my deeper intuition to come fully into play, never a dull moment!

Originally from Ohio, where I lived most of my teenage years! In 2018, I began a journey which brought me to the California College of Ayurveda in Nevada City, CA. A quaint town nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. With a wholesome community centered on sustainability and eco-friendly ideals, I found my first taste of home.

I am a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (CAS). At this level we work with Westernly diagnosed disease and treat it Ayurvedically. I am a member of the California College of Ayurveda's (CCA) Herb Department. Here I prepare medicines prescribed and ordered through the College from Ayurvedic practitioners. I am also a member of CCA's spa, performing body therapies such as Abhyanga (massage), Shirodhara (Oil poured over the forehead), Svedana (Herbal steam), Pinda Svedana (Heated herbal bolus massage), and Ayurvedic facials.

April 2021 - Present

I am one of two technicians who prepare all of CCA's herbal orders coming from its onsite and graduate practitioners. We produce herbal capsules, powders, teas, medicated oils/ghees, salves, and spritzers.

Pinda Svedana Training

July 2020

During this workshop I learned the art of Pinda Svedana massage. Warm boluses of rice are wrapped in muslin cloth, soaked in hot oil which are then used to apply the oil to the body. A good therapy for Kapha specifically, the rhythmic pounding of the pandas can help clear stagnation in the body.
